Trippie Redd and 6ix9ine’s pissing contest continues.
On Wednesday afternoon, Trippie hit up Instagram with a video that seemed to be directed at his foe 6ix9ine. The Ohio-born rapper didn’t drop any names in the clip, but did speak about his rivals who have failed to match his number of platinum records.
“It’s not about what hits Billboard or how many views you got on a video. It’s about copies sold. It’s about streams, you know?” he said in the clip. “[…] No artist that beefs with me or talks down on my name has that many platinum songs. They’re all gold. A lot of artists that are in my bracket right now, they got a lot of gold songs; they don’t have platinum songs. […] Let’s change the game to what’s platinum, instead of what hits Billboard.”
Trippie listed three of his tracks that have received platinum certifications: “Love Scars,” “Dark Knight Dummo,” and the double platinum “Fuck Love” with XXXTentacion.
The video was posted just days after 6ix9ine suggested he was much more relevant and successful than Trippie. During an Instragram Live session with DJ Akademiks, 6ix9ine predicted Trippie’s upcoming album, Life’s a Trip, would be a flop. The Brooklyn rapper, who has one platinum certification under his belt (“Gummo”), claimed there was “no competition” between him and Trippie.
Trippie responded to the video Wednesday by pulling the same stunt.
So, will 6ix9ine’s predictions about Trippie’s new album turn out to be right? We’ll have to want and see. Life’s a Trip is set to hit streaming services this Friday.
