Cardi B will grace the cover of New York Magazine’s new issue, as the rapper revealed on her Instagram Sunday. “Honored and Proud to be on the cover of NEW YORK MAGAZINE @nymag!!! Specially since I’m a Bronx native. Its a dream come true !!!” she wrote, sharing the cover, which finds her glossed up in a pink jacket and her giant raindrop-shaped engagement ring glimmering.
Just two weeks ago, Cardi was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. In the story, she spoke of her rise to fame. “I cannot turn my life back around,” she said. “I’m already a public figure, I’m famous. … It’s like, I might as well keep it going, might as well make the money. People are always going to talk shit – I cannot make myself unfamous.”
Cardi’s “Bodak Yellow” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 In September, making her the first female rapper to earn a solo No. 1 since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998. Last week, she became the first woman ever to have her first three singles chart simultaneously within the Top Ten of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Cardi has recently been in the news regarding her engagement to Migos rapper Offset, who proposed on stage at Power House Philly at the end of October. The ring, which has been valued at $550,000 is a reference to Offset’s hook (“Raindrop / Droptop”) on “Bad And Boujee,” another rap song to top the charts this year. While the couple has made no public plans to televise their wedding, both BET and VH1 have expressed interest in TV rights to the event.
