Stream The New Beyonce Netflix Documentary ‘Homecoming’ Beyonce made history last year, when she became the first black woman to headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Her two-night performance, which became known as “Beychella,” received overwhelming acclaim from fans and critics alike. The set spanned two hours, featured more than two dozen songs, included 100-plus dancers, a marching band, as well as guest appearances by JAY-Z, Solange, and fellow Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. But, above all, the performance was an unapologetic celebration of black culture and womanhood.
About one year after Bey hit the Coachella stage, Netflix has released a documentary that chronicles the milestone event. The film, dubbed Homecoming, provides a behind-the-scenes look at all the work that went into the headlining performance and its evolution “from creative concept to cultural moment.”
“I told Beyoncé that I was afraid that the predominately white audience at Coachella would be confused by all of the black culture and Black college culture because it was something that they might not get,” her mother, Tina Knowles, wrote on Instagram last year. “Her brave response to me made me feel a bit selfish and ashamed. She said I have worked very hard to get to the point where I have a true voice and at this point in my life and my career I have a responsibility to do whats best for the world and not what is most popular […] I stand corrected.”
The documentary will include rehearsal footage, performance clips, interviews, as well as guest appearances by Beyoncé’s family, including her children Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi.
Her New Live Album can be streamed here.
